About University of Wrocław
The University of Wrocław has a rich history of more than three centuries. Founded by Leopold I Habsburg the university evolved from a modest school run by Jesuits into one of the biggest academic institutions in Poland.Today the University of Wrocław is the largest university in the region and teaches over 40,000 students and around 1300 doctoral students at 10 Faculties. 9000 students graduate from the University every year. The University of Wroclaw offers degrees at the bachelor, master’s and doctoral level. All Faculties at the University of Wroclaw provide at least one master’s program in English and some at the bachelor level.
For a number of years, the University of Wroclaw has engaged in intensive cooperation with a large number of partner institutions within the framework of bilateral agreements. The agreements are signed at single faculty or university level. In either case they result in numerous joint research projects and extensive student and faculty member exchanges. The University of Wrocław is a prestigious research centre. The Uwr is a member of 9 scientific networks and 13 scientific industrial consortia. The core group of about 400 professors, including lecturers from international universities, play a key role and guarantee the highest level of education.
The University of Wrocław possesses 31 premises for teaching, research, administration, and social purposes. Classes are performed in lecture rooms and exercise rooms, and in computer, chemical and technological laboratories. Rooms are equipped with modern audio-visual aides. Some rooms possess facilities enabling direct tele-transmissions and tele-conferencing activities.
