University of Humanities and Economics

About the University

The University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz was established in 1993. It is the largest non-public institution of higher education in Poland. The university has eleven faculties and offers students a wide choice of subjects. Students can choose to study any of over 100 courses. The curricula of these courses are constantly updated according to market demands.

In 2007, the University gained the right to award PhDs in the following subjects: linguistics in the department of humanities, information technology in the department of technical sciences and visual arts in the department of fine arts.

One of the most distinguishing features of the University of Humanities and Economics is that each student benefits from an individual approach to their learning needs in order to help them creatively solve the tasks and problems they face.

The UHE is an academy of modern technologies boasting a professionally equipped publishing house, television studio, outpatient clinic and printing house as well as the largest – among non-public schools in the region – free-access library. We are the first and only school in Poland that offers a specialization in Mainframe Systems – virtualization, transaction, mass conversion etc.

All courses may be taken up both full-time and part-time with the use of the remote learning platform. E-learning provides the possibility of transferring knowledge to everyone who has access to an Internet-enabled computer. After logging into the system, students may use the digital library and access practical tasks and multimedia exercises.

Embracing the expectations that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education has of all universities, UHE in Lodz prepares new curricula in accordance with the requirements of European Educational Standards. Studying at university level should not only include the acquisition of knowledge, but also the development of skills.

Among other things, a university has to make sure that its graduates can learn over the course of their whole lives, work in a team and communicate effectively in a group. It is important to acquire personal and social competences. Achieving scholarly excellence and enhancing the social and personal skills of students are central to UHE’s mission. Since it was founded, UHE has been developing innovative didactic techniques and methods.
