WHAT LANGUAGE CERTIFICATES ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY TO UNIVERSITIES IN POLAND 2026/27?

In 2025, important changes took place in Poland regarding language proficiency requirements for university admission. From now on, all international applicants must hold a language certificate at a minimum level of B2, confirming their proficiency in the four key skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. The Polish Ministry of Education has approved an official list of recognized documents accepted by all higher education institutions in the country. Therefore, not every certificate is suitable — it is essential to have one that is officially listed.

Polish Language Certificates Accepted for Admission in 2026

To confirm knowledge of the Polish language at a level no lower than B2 for admission in 2026, the following documents are accepted:

  • A diploma in Polish philology or applied linguistics from a foreign university, provided that the number of hours of Polish language instruction was at least 500.
  • A sworn translator’s certificate issued by the Polish Ministry of Justice.
